ASTILBE

Captivated by both the fun and formality of the era, I looked to dresses of the 40s, 50s, and 60s for inspiration when designing the dress Astilbe. I loved the directional striping of the dress I chose from our Fashion Archive and interpreted that design detail through the use of seersucker for a more casual, everyday approach. A few of my favorite fashion idols such as Nancy Sinatra and my great grandma also played a role in my design process, as I admire the effortless style of their time. The swingy circle skirt made fuller with a horsehair hem, and a tie halter detail gives this dress that fun and easy silhouette. And because I wanted this dress to be practical, I of course had to add pockets, sized perfectly for a cell phone and snacks!

This dress is a great summer staple for women of many ages, with its flattering cut and modest silhouette. The cotton seersucker keeps the wearer cool and comfortable, and has been my go to outfit since I finished, making the perfect effortless look for summer. This dress is so cheery and simple to wear, and always brightens my day. Oh, and did I mention it has pockets?
